World Briefing | Europe: Britain: Prison for 5 Who Helped Failed London Bombers

Five men were convicted by a suburban London court of assisting in the failed terrorist attack on London’s transportation system on July 21, 2005, which sought to repeat the attacks that on July 7 that killed 52 people. The five ? all Muslim immigrants from Africa between 25 and 30 ? were sentenced to prison terms from 7 to 17 years for providing safe houses, passports, clothing and food after bombs planted in three subway stations and on a bus failed to explode. The two given the longest sentences, 12 and 17 years, were found guilty of knowing about the plot in advance.
