World Business Briefing: Britain: Reuters Names Editor in Chief

The news and financial information provider Reuters Group said it had appointed David Schlesinger, left, to be its new editor in chief, succeeding Geert Linnebank, who will become a senior adviser to the company’s chief executive. Mr. Schlesinger, who joined Reuters in 1987 as a correspondent in Hong Kong, has been global managing editor and head of editorial operations since 2003. He will take over in January. Reuters said that Mr. Linnebank would advise the chief executive, Thomas H. Glocer, on a range of news and content-related areas, including Reuters? joint ventures in India, and other international strategic opportunities for the company.
