World Briefing | Europe: The Hague: Liberian’s Trial Off Till 2008For the fourth time this year, judges for the United Nations-backed Special Court for Sierra Leone postponed the start of the war crimes trial of Charles G. Taylor, the former Liberian president. They set the new date for Jan. 7. The trial, dealing with murder, rape and mutilation, charges that stem from Mr. Taylors role in a decade of conflict in Sierra Leone, has been delayed since April as Mr. Taylor requested more time, more staff for his defense team and more legal aid funds. During the hearing yesterday, the judges agreed that the entirely new defense team now in place would be given four months to prepare their case.
