The head of Shanghais new Formula One racing track lost his job as part of an investigation into corruption in the city government. Yu Zhifei, the official, was fired and expelled from the Communist Party, state news media said. He oversaw the introduction of the racing circuit in 2005. The track and related infrastructure cost the city more than $1 billion to develop.
