RealNetworks Acquires Trymedia From MacrovisionFiled at 1:19 p.m. ET SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Digital media company RealNetworks Inc <RNWK.O> said on Friday it has acquired the assets of online game technology company Trymedia from Macrovision Corp <MVSN.O>, doubling the scale of its games syndication business. RealNetworks paid $4 million for Trymedia, according to a person with knowledge of the transaction. RealNetworks, a company that distributes music and video over the Internet, said that the Trymedia acquisition will help it in its drive to boost its online game business. Trymedia works with more than 250 other companies, including Yahoo Inc <YHOO.O> and Time Warner Incs <TWX.N> AOL, helping syndicate online game distribution. Trymedia has about 60 employees around the world. Last year, RealNetworks acquired New York-based online game developer Game Trust for about $20 million, as part of its strategy to reach more users through syndicated distribution partnerships.
