Kyrgyz President Names PremierFiled at 2:51 a.m. ET ALMATY (Reuters) - The president of the Central Asian state of Kyrgyzstan on Monday appointed former energy and industry minister Igor Chudinov as prime minister, the presidents office said. The volatile ex-Soviet states government resigned in October after President Kurmanbek Bakiyev called a snap parliamentary election. The presidents Ak Zhol party scored a landslide victory in last weeks poll, taking 71 of 90 seats. The opposition and Western monitors branded the poll unfair. Bakiyev, who promised to focus on economic reform after securing backing in parliament, has appointed Ak Zhol member Adakhan Madumarov, former secretary of state, as speaker of the assembly.
