Guilty Plea Entered In Tax Shelter CaseA former employee of the accounting firm Ernst & Young pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit tax fraud yesterday, a month after similar charges were filed against four current and former employees of the firm. The plea was entered in Federal District Court in Manhattan, according to a statement by Michael J. Garcia, the United States attorney for the Southern District of New York. Last months charges were an expansion of the governments crackdown on illegal shelters, which also has implicated former employees of the accounting firm KPMG. The Ernst & Young employee charged yesterday, Belle Six, worked in the firms Viper group, formed in 1998 to create and sell shelters, Mr. Garcia said in the statement. Ms. Six, 36, lives in Dallas, Mr. Garcia said. As part of her plea agreement, she will forfeit more than $13 million, representing after-tax compensation she received for tax shelter work after leaving Ernst & Young. Her lawyer, John Moscow, did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
