Green Fuel (Literally) (1 Letter)To the Editor: Re “Scientists Would Turn Greenhouse Gas Into Gasoline” (Feb. 19), on a proposal to remove carbon dioxide from the air and convert it to fuel: Algae may present a shorter path to large-scale, carbon-neutral fuel one that unlike the CO2 proposal would require no nuclear power to produce. Intentional “blooms” of wild algae, grown on some of the billions of gallons of wastewater collected at sewage treatment plants, could be dried and burned in solid-fuel power plants instead of coal.
