Fears For Wife Of AustralianA FORMER Australian citizen is locked up in a squalid Harare prison after being arrested on Sunday in a crackdown on opposition activists by President Robert Mugabes security forces. Relatives of Sekai Holland, 61 who is married to Australian man Jim Holland and has two children living in Sydney say they have been denied access to her in Avondale jail. "Nobody has been allowed to see her," her sister Su Hove said. She believes Ms Holland is unwell and fears she has been assaulted in the jail, which is renowned for its filthy conditions. "Sekai is one of the healthiest people around, so when shes unwell you wonder what triggered that off," Ms Hove said from Harare. "I hope that its the very bad conditions in the jail instead of the assaults that take place in these places." Ms Holland, a prominent anti-apartheid activist who lived in Australia from 1961 to 1980, was arrested along with dozens of opponents of Mr Mugabes rule after a prayer rally they held was declared illegal by police. Ms Hove said her family had informed Australias ambassador to Zimbabwe of Ms Hollands plight.
