The number of Christmas Eve shoppers on the high street fell by 43 per cent this year compared with December 24 last year, according to the Retail FootFall Index. High streets and shopping centres had their busiest day of the festive period on Thursday, FootFall, the retail analysis company that compiles and updates the index, said. (AP)

Iran oil tender

Iran has put exploration and development of 17 oil blocks on a tender deadlined for June. It estimates the minimum investment for exploration of the 17 blocks to be €460 million (£310 million). Analysts said that UN sanctions might hinder the project. (Reuters)

Saudi phone bids

Saudi Arabia said it had extended deadlines on bids for a third mobile licence and a second fixed-line licence by up to six weeks. “It was in the interest of the market and investors to give an extension,” its Communications and Information Technology Commission said. (Reuters)

Sinopec’s finds

Sinopec, the Chinese oil company, has found an estimated 30 per cent more recoverable crude oil reserves this year than last year, but additions of recoverable natural gas reserves have fallen by more than 40 per cent, its in-house newspaper reported. (Reuters)

Russia sues PwC

Russian tax authorities have filed a suit against the local branch of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) accusing it of producing a false audit for the fallen oil company Yukos, the auditor said. PwC said that it acted strictly in line with Russia’s legislation. (Reuters)
