Branson’s On-air Water Fight

Miffed billionaire Richard Branson has thrown a glass of water over a US talk show host who refused to let him plug his latest business venture, a report said today.

But presenter Stephen Colbert wasnt about to let the matter end there.

The host demanded a bottle of water from aides and returned the favour, drenching the Virgin tycoon, The Sun newspaper reported today.

A stunned audience watched the exchange as the interview was filmed in New York.

One audience member said a few uncomfortable moments followed, as the host and Branson sat there "looking like two wet cats". Soon after, assistants broke out a hair dryer to dry the pair off.

Producers have had to can the interview, but say it will be re-recorded later this week.

A Virgin spokesman told The Sun that Branson had been invited on The Colbert Report to chat about his new low-cost air service between New York and Los Angeles.

But the host had other ideas.

"Richard did throw his water over Stephen. As most people know, Richard can be unpredictable," the Virgin spokesman said.
